my OP up there was from 2009 !!

I actually hate synth1 now, it's next to useless. the UI is so ugly and totally glitchy on my current system.

I'd love to use SQ-8L but it's not available for Mac, and I'm not interested in the weird, unpleasant, nearly useless (can't have it actually inside the sequencer) workarounds.
