Can I do some cool light shows on Push 2 like launchpad?!

Hello People!

Im a producer that used logic pro x for a while and now i switched to Live 9 Suite and this DAW is really Awesome.



I'm planning on getting the new push 2 from ableton

But I am wondering if I can do those cool light show stuff that people do on their Novation Launchpad



I did some research for my self and it seems like that Push 2 is more of a production gear but not a Performance gear(correct me if I'm wrong!)

My impression to Push 2 is that it looks a little stiff and looks very good for production process. But seems like Launchpad is more suitable for performing.

I don't really want to pay 799 dollars for Push 2 since I can pretty much do those kind of things with my mouse and my keyboard.

I want to produce my music and play it live with my midi controller such as push or launchpad and I really want those cool looking light show.



Can you 'perform' a full track with push 2?

and can you also add cool light shows?



If you those two features are on launchpad I think I will just go with the Launchpad.

Yea So I guess there is no light show function in Push huh..
I kinda wanna go with the launchpad then. That launchpad LED light programming looks fantastic

I got Push 2 today and played around with it for about 3 hours
It seems I was right!

Push 2 seems like more of an production hardware and launchpad is just pure performance hardware

I dont know why so many people are comparing those two when they are made for different reasons...

I think I will get launchpad someday as well. They are just two different things.

Why do you have that assessment? The Push is a phenomenally comprehensive performance instrument as well. Having read some reviews on the Launchpad, I don't see it doing anything that Push can't.

Well... Launchpad Pro is smaller and much lighter than Push - therefor a good choice for live sets. And less than half the price.
But I agree: no extra functionality that Push can't handle anyway. Except that light show that is...

For live sets, it would be fitting to also have a durable product. Besides being an exemplar in industrial and interface design, the build quality of the Push 2 is formidable. Meanwhile the Launchpad, like its peers, is very cheap in appearance and materials used.

The Push has an appealing weight to it. Enough to feel substantial; not so much that I don't love playing it on my lap while in the sofa.

Additionally, the OP mentions he/she is now using Live. The Live and Push workflow is unlike anything you'll get with a 3rd party device.

i adjusted one of the pots on the Push and then tried to adjust one on the Launchpad

i was using the browser on Luanchpad and then i woke up.
