Collision reliable ??
Hi,
i only recently started using Collision.
Sometimes it goes crazy and outputs massive nonsense of loud noise that almost kills me.
Does it happen elsewhere ?

Re: Collision reliable ??
yea in the manual for collision and tension it even says a warning because it could produce a very loud sound
"A word of caution: in many ways, Collision’s models are idealized versions of real-world objects. Consequently, it is very easy to program resonances that are much more sensitive to input than any physical resonator could be. Certain combinations of parameters can cause dramatic changes in volume. Make sure to keep output levels low when experimenting with new sounds. "

Yep. It's the nature of creating flexible physical modeling algorithms. Build in safety measures and you lose the flexibility. Leave out the safety measures and you have to be prepared for things occasionally blowing up.

They made Live 9.5 physical modeling. So it crashes. Makes sense.

To be clear i am absolutely aware of the resonance aspect, especially when you feed resonator 1 to resonator 2.
I am talking of sudden 'digital' bursts, and stuck notes.

Re: Collision reliable ??
yes, same here... you open a live set containing a collision track and in some cases it produces this very loud digital noise when you hit Play. after that it works. I don't use it anymore.

Either this or a sudden stuck note sounding like a sawtooth at around 270 Hz.

yes of course, sometimes also during a session...chapelier fou wrote:Either this or a sudden stuck note sounding like a sawtooth at around 270 Hz.

if this gets fixed I would be happy, because I actually like collision.

You should write to support as well...
What are your computer specs ?
To be honest i discovered it recently and i am so amazed of the sounds i can get with it...

I'm on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro.... still 10.8.
It's an issue since the beginning (mid 2012 ).
I will write them.
