Ever wanted to collaborate with artists in other parts of the country, or other parts of the world, but couldn’t? Remember when performing with others remotely wasn’t possible, except for click-track trickery and complicated performance logistics?

With the introduction of Low-Latency technology (LOLA), the barriers have come down. LOLA technology gets faster and better by the moment, and cultural companies, artists, universities and academies, and even corporations are exploring new territory made possible by these advancements.

Discover the cutting-edge opportunities offered by the latest advancements in LOLA technology, and meet a network of users at this workshop that explores the current and future uses of networked, online technologies.

The NPAPW will be hosted at the New World Center, one of the country’s landmarks for creativity and technology, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry in the heart of Miami Beach.

The Workshop:

This workshop will provide opportunities to learn about long-distance collaborations via the internet, on high-speed networks. Experts from different fields will build on the basic knowledge and skills gained during the previous workshops, while first-time attendees will quickly build a vocabulary, the necessary toolbox and a network of contacts to advance their own ideas or projects.

The main focus of these sessions will be on brief demonstrations of technology and lectures followed by roundtable discussions. As in previous years, the sessions will be hands-on, encouraging the participants to generate new ideas about how the technology presented can be used in various disciplines.

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for those who want to explore the new possibilities and challenges that advanced education and research networks can offer:

* Business owners and Startups seeking to learn about networked collaborative technologies
* Students, academics and technical staff of institutions that offer education and / or produce events in the performing arts (music, dance, theater, visual arts schools and academies)
* People involved in audio / video production for cultural, educational and corporate uses
* NRENs and other regional education networks, whose constituents have need for high-end audio-visual production and transmission over those networks
* Artists interested in cutting-edge, networked music and video performance and collaboration technology
