Help please. Hard decision...
I am debating between a focusrite 18i20 with a new mix which is about 600$ total OR the new push2 which I can get for about the same price. Which one would you guys get. Both would go to great use.

do you need an interface or a controller?
Re: Help please. Hard decision...
Which do you need to upgrade more? Those are totally different things and you're not giving any info about what you have now and/or why you want to ugrade either in the first place.

Buy the Korg Minilogue if you want an upgrade then.

Ok that was obviously a terrible post. Let me try again... I am in a tough spot and looking for advice. I can choose between the new PUSH2 or a focusrite 18i20 with a new mic. My band kinda would like to start using an audio interface rather than the old mackie mixer that we have right now. The 18i20 would give us plenty of io so that's not a problem however we don't need it. I'd also like to start doing some pads and synths with able ton and want a good controller. What would you guys do?

The added emphasis above should help lead you to your answer.Osteja0713 wrote:The 18i20 would give us plenty of io so that's not a problem however we don't need it.
If you get the sound card, which you don't need, you'll be staring at it sitting on its rack, doing nothing, thinking about how much fun you could have been having with your controller.
If you get the controller, you likely will not stop in the middle of a fun jam and think how you wish you'd gotten the sound card that you didn't need.
Hope that helps, if it doesn't, just follow your heart. That's what I always do.

I’m just guessing here, but it sounds like you would prefer Push 2 but your band wants the new interface because they personally wouldn’t gain anything from Push 2. If it’s so important to the band then ask them to help pay for the interface. Would that make you a bad guy? I don’t miss being in bands.

meh. the band will break up over a chick or some drug... get the Push

Get the focus rite 18i20, eat porridge for a month and pick up a second hand Push 1.Osteja0713 wrote:I am debating between a focusrite 18i20 with a new mix which is about 600$ total OR the new push2 which I can get for about the same price. Which one would you guys get. Both would go to great use.
Make some music!
Re: Help please. Hard decision...
Do you already play keyboard? If you can play keyboard well, Push would not do much differently, aside from showing a display of parameters. Plus, Push does not necessarily give you extra instrument sounds, it is just a means of playing notes, along with a few other performance options.
A decent keyboard can in some ways be more intuitive than Push if you already have keyboarding ability. But if you do not know how to play keys, push does offer some methods for getting around some limitations.
It sounds like the interface would be most beneficial to start with, and then maybe try some demonstrations of Push at a store or friend's place.

Re: Help please. Hard decision...
I don't really play keys so that's not an issue. I think the interface is what I'm gonna do. Thanks for replies!

I still don't really know what happened in this thread or why...you might want to spell your band name right on your site too
