Issues mapping drum pads and keys to seperate midi channels.

Post by ProfoundTactics » Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:08 am

Hi guys, I've been having a few issues with a new Alesis VI25 keyboard I've just purchased.

I'm trying to set it up so I can trigger vocal samples on the drum pads, but at the same time have a Rhodes VST assigned to the keys. I want to do this without them playing the samples together at the same time. I can set up and receive midi through Channel 1, but as soon as I try and select Channel 2 for the drum rack, there is no signal coming through. The only option I seem to have is both on Channel 1, which obviously enables both keys & pads to play at the same time, which isn't what I want.

I thought I'd test on my Akai MPK49 and it lets me use ch1 & ch2 just fine. The pads and keys play seperate to each other. Does this indicate that maybe the Alesis doesn't support this? Or am I just missing something blindingly obvious?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the global settings for the keyboard, maybe it has an option to assign different midi channels to the pads and keys?
