Izotope Ozone 7

Post by Dingo20 » Fri Jan 29, 2016 9:44 pm

Anybody use it? I can get a good deal on it but debating whether or not I should get it and do what I can to master my own tracks or just send my tracks to a mastering engineer.

If you are going to get it, I would go for the Advanced version because all the mastering modules are also available as individual plugins you can put on any track. That gives you a lot more options and bang for your buck.

I have it. It is a deep plug-in and has many uses. I just use it for mastering.

It has a learning curve but Izotope does a good job with the documentation. I recommend "not" using the presets. Most are very heavy handed which is typical what mastering isn't about. But they are probably good just to get an idea of what you can do with all of the modules.

Cool. I've been debating whether I should get something like Ozone and work on masters myself or send them to mastering engineers. I've heard the argument from both sides and I'm split on the whole thing.

i think it depends a lot on how motivated you are to learn the skills required. ideally you would have a decent monitoring system too so you can more or less trust what you are hearing...

Maybe try the 7 day free trial to watch it if you don't have a subscription, one of the best sites to subscribe to IMO.
