Well, they usually fix some problems and new ones are sometimes introduced. I've had 2 more major problems with 2 different plug-ins added in the betas this time around of which one is not present in the 9.5 release. No response to my reports either yet.

Overall though, I must say that Live betas are among the most stable betas I've tried in any category.

Well, my issue appears to be solved. The apparent culprit was Elektron Overbridge 1.0. Once I upgraded to Overbridge 1.1, all my issues went away. To recap: I was having a lot of issues with Live hanging while running Max For Live devices. I was also having the issue where Live's process fails to terminate after closing Live. Based on that and some emails with Ableton, I am guessing Overbridge's audio magic was causing problems with Live.

Everything is stable now. :)

Also, Ableton support was very patient and thorough, and they did everything they could to help me. They looked at my crash reports, etc. Thanks Ableton support!

This is very interesting as i just had problems when quitting and only then and only in one project. Was this when OverBridge was in active use in your projects? I still have 1.0 installed.

Nope. I was able to repro my issue with a very minimal project with only the Expression Control MFL device.

Highly recommend you upgrade.

I don't feel like typing everything out, but with Ableton Support's suggestions and my troubleshooting, I am extremely confident all other variables were eliminated. It makes a lot of sense, because some years ago on a different computer, I had a similar issue with another audio software which was conflicting with Ableton - even though it was not actively running.

I think such applications must be very careful when they have their own audio drivers or processes running in the background, which I think Overbridge does (even though you may not have an Overbridge plugin instantiated or even an Elektron device plugged in).

I tried the 9.6 beta last weekend, and it still has the same lockup and instability issues as every 9.5 version i have tried. No improvements. Sticking with 9.2.3.

Oh looks like there is a 9.6.2 beta, I'll try that one this weekend, but breath will not be held.

It's 9.6b2. That's a candidate for a 9.6.0 release, not a 9.6.2.

Sure, 9.6b2. Just tested it, still doesn't work right. 9.2.3 is still the last reliable build.

Can you be more specific, what are you having problems with?

Had to go back to Beta 9.6 b1, as 9.6 b2 is terrible and unstable like hell! Same as current Live 9.5!

So I seriously hope this b2 isn't a release candidate!

If they going to release that as 9.6.0 live release I'm done with Ableton, return the Push 2 and ask for refund of my recent Suite upgrade.

I have no idea what's going on at Ableton HQ, but it almost feels like they have lost a lot of good developers or something. Can't explain this otherwise!
And then I'm not even talking about the shambles with the pad sensitivity of Push 2. /sigh

Since 9.5 I have had issues with live locking up, becoming completely non-responsive when opening large samples or doing simple split edits (pressing ctrl+e).

To make this issue easy for the devs to reproduce, I have a set that was saved with 8.4.2 that 9.2.3 can open fine, but every variant of 9.5 or 9.6 that i have tried locks up while trying to open, 100% of the time. Live developers have this set, I have an open bug with them. The bug has been open for months. I update it every time I test a new beta.

Just checking by what you guys are reporting here.. Hmm, I think I will continue using 9.2.3 for a little while more.
Would love to try those new filters, but stability first.

There's a ton of people running 9.5 with no issues too, don't let one post on a forum dissuade from you from what might otherwise work fine.

Thanks Eric, I do listen to people like you, everyone should. However this is my main job so it aint a good idea unless it really is stable..
