*.wav files pronounced WAV or WAVE --- it's WAVE!
Why do some people pronounce it wav. It's wave not wav! It makes me bonkers to hear wav and not wave. I think it's the Brits fault. They also pronounce *.dll as "Dill" and not "dee el el" That makes me bonkers too. I know I should be open minded but it makes me bonkers. This is kind of joke post please don't take it too seriously.

I've only ever heard people say it as "wave".

Phew. You are lucky then. This week I heard "waav" a few times watching Sonic States Messe coverage.
Nick Batt always says "waav" and I think I heard the WaveLab guy say "waav" too!

Why do you pronounce gif like it's written, but not wav? And how about the word gift?
I'm not a native English speaker though, so I don't know what's technically correct. I'd say both make sense. Reminds me how the 1st floor (etasje) in Norwegian refers to the ground floor, while other places the 1st floor is above the ground floor.
Anyway, here's some history about English spelling: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-cry ... 91037.html

That’s nothing. My EDM loving coworker calls what is clearly a supersaw an organ. FFS.

When I get married, I want the wedding march with supersaws.
Re: *.wav files pronounced WAV or WAVE --- it's WAVE!
for this one... i know it's pronounced jif... but people correct me and i have to stop talking about the point and have a sidetrack lesson on the actual name of the file type if i pronounce it jif. so, i finally surrendered and just pronounce it as gifgranted wrote:Oh no, not gif vs. jif!! and it's jif!Idonotlikebroccoli wrote:Is it gif or jif?

Is it gift or jift?
Re: *.wav files pronounced WAV or WAVE --- it's WAVE!
[properly] pronounced jiff.Idonotlikebroccoli wrote:Is it gift or jift?
[typically] pronounced giff.
Re: *.wav files pronounced WAV or WAVE --- it's WAVE!
Because it says wav not wave. There's no e on the end.granted wrote:Why do some people pronounce it wav.
Do they? I don't, and I'm a Brit. I've never heard anyone else say "dill" either, so that's clearly not true.granted wrote:They also pronounce *.dll as "Dill" and not "dee el el".

I subscribe to Computer Music mag and the instructors on the video content typically say WAAV. Drives me up a wall... I almost want to email their support.
I think it is a British thing?
