Mixing controller for live
Mixing controller for live
Looking for something like push but for mixing, with faders etc. that would incorporate with live.
Anything like that out there?

The Akai APC 40 is a popular tool. It is very different from Push.

I seriously don't think I could live without it now. Just as good as the Mackie but half the price and you can get them a lot cheaper second hand on ebay now.
It really bugs me that manufacturers are still not producing units with the LED feedback strips so you can see what your controlling, in this day and age. I hate not knowing what fader and knob does what, cause my memory.......

Yes! This is more along the lines of what I am looking for. Any others out there that work with live?malenko wrote:https://www.icondigitalusa.com/daw-controllers/

Looking to be able to load and tweak plugins, mix etc kinda like some of the high end pro tools controllers, but not for pro tools
Re: Mixing controller for live
You can't go wrong with the Icon mate. I picked up an extender for a little over 100 quid last month so now I have 16 channels of flying faders at my fingertips!
You can't load plugins from it, not a lot of other makes can either which is why Push is so awesome, but you can tweak plugins with it!

There is also the Livid DS1 and the Behringer Xtouch control surfaces.

I run a Mackie MCU that I have had for about 7 years. It's a tough unit and my most used piece of gear. Teamed up with Bomes MIDI Translator and I have most of Lives editing features right in front of me.
I scored my nit brand new (but part of a "demo" 50% off sale) at the time which if it wasn't the case I wouldn't have really considered it because it was (and still is) expensive for what it does.
I did own a Behringer BCF 2000 before it and within 2 weeks I wanted to get rid of it due to no LCD feedback from the thing, I never knew what the faders were doing. You really do need the LCD feedback.
It is plug and play, quite versatile and has worked 100% flawless all these years and is still in "as new" condition. There are other choices these days (both motorised and otherwise) so might pay to do some research on each option and the reviews.

I've wondering about MPD 232. Can the pads be used to launch clips?sageman wrote:I am running the AKAI MPD 232 and love it.
