Looks like Reason 9.1 will be Link enabled.
This is an exciting direction for Link, and I am happy to see that it is not restricted to apps only.

Wow!! I am super amp'd about this! I just downloaded Reason 9.1 and not only does Link work with a computer running Live and another computer running Reason, it will also work if you're running Live and Reason on the same computer! This is absolutely ingenious. It's like Ableton and Propellerhead got married and produced a super baby!! Could this be the end of Rewire?? I guess time will tell.
Re: Ableton Link. It's not just for apps anymore.
THIS is a reason Link could be useful. I mean rewire is OK, but to be able to use two systems, two processors, lots of ram etc it adds to the possibility of sharing a project with a mate's laptop. Apps and things dont really interest me but this does.

+1. I could care less about apps as well. This could really take collaboration to a new level. To be able to Link multiple Macs and PCs... this person works synths, another works vocals and another could work rhythm and then come together to put it all together. Wheels are turning!downfader wrote:THIS is a reason Link could be useful. So I guess I overlooked the bigger news as I wanted to share this immediately.
But the even bigger news is that Link is now available to any developer who wants to implement it in their software.
A lot of developers might have no excuse Not to add this in their next update.
Imagine.... Nearly every program on your computer automatically synchronizes with one single button within each program. And then a friend Links up with you guys, and one of the kids out in the living room joins in without telling anyone on their iPad.
Quick question. Does Link have a major impact on Arrangement View clips??? If you change the tempo to very high and then very low, does it shorten the unwarped audio clips??

Re: Ableton Link. It's not just for apps anymore.
I'm puzzled -- because of the announcement about Max supporting Link, I expected to see a new version of Max on the Cycling '74 page; but there isn't. Does that mean 7.2.4 supports Link, or that a 7.2.5 will appear shortly?
Re: Ableton Link. It's not just for apps anymore.
It sounds like from replies on the Ableton Facebook some are still in beta.

The feature is coming in the form of new Link-based Max objects. Cycling will upload the new suite of objects through Max's project manager "in the next few weeks."ark wrote:I'm puzzled -- because of the announcement about Max supporting Link, I expected to see a new version of Max on the Cycling '74 page; but there isn't. I want reaktor 6 to support link.
Live 9.6 Suite / Max 7.2 / REAPER / Reaktor 6 / Win10 64bit / 4.2GHz i7 / 32GB DRAM / SSD / 828mk3 / 4 x HR824 / QX25 / HPD-15 / Sonor club kit / Mother-32 and a growing Eurorack.
Re: Ableton Link. It's not just for apps anymore.
I will upgrade my old Reason 3 then.
For Maschine & Reaktor: NI may release something like "NativeConnectStandart"
which will connect NI products only. In a buggy way.
I doubt they will support Link.
