A good de-esser like spitfish
A good de-esser like spitfish
I am working mostly with Live 64 Bit and use de-essing for dialogue editing and mixing.
The build in one in Live is not good enough IMHO.
Spitfish from http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.p ... &subItem=5
works only in 32 Bit (Windows) but is very good.
Would love to have a build in version that really works as spitfish de-esser.

Re: A good de-esser like spitfish
Yep, those good old Digitalfishphones are fantastic. Too sad they won't never be updated to 64bit.
I'm using Tonebooster TB FIX for de-essing. It's not its former purpose, it's a nice dynamic EQ actually... so it's good for de-essing.
They also sell a deesser called Sibalance. I haven't tested it, but you can grab a demo. And those plugins are stupidly cheap.

I'll check them, thanks. I am just wondering why the Ableton de-esser does not work so well.[jur] wrote:Yep, those good old Digitalfishphones are fantastic. Too sad they won't never be updated to 64bit.

Is there a roadmap to improve the Ableton built in de-esser?
That would be amazing!

Re: A good de-esser like spitfish
DMG Essence would be another one I would recommend, easy to use and capable of a whole lot more than just De-essing.

Re: A good de-esser like spitfish
There's no built-in deesser in Live, it's Compressor actually, with a sidechained filter.

Izotope Nectar is a VST effect I've used for cleaning up VO/ADR for so long, I really haven't felt the need to try anything newer. Demo version available
Re: A good de-esser like spitfish
That's true. But it is named De-esser.[jur] wrote:There's no built-in deesser in Live, it's Compressor actually, with a sidechained filter.

Doesn't the compressor with the HP filter side chain does this?
Or do you want something like Fabfilter Pro DS which is "smarter"?

Spitfish as build in tool in Ableton!jlgrimes wrote:MrMoneypenny wrote:I am working mostly with Live 64 Bit and use de-essing for dialogue editing and mixing.

Spitfish. That brings back memories.
I did try out a 32bit "shell" for 64bit systems a while back. Computer music gave it away free about a year ago iirc. You simply drop the shell in as normal and open the 32bit pluggin inside it.
Perhaps some ingeniuous bod can use M4L to create a more stable native shell for these sorts of things? Especially if you cant get hold of the CM one
