SERIOUSLY. What is the vert best Guitar modellng software?

Post by EasyWorkflow » Sun Nov 27, 2016 7:35 am

I have used Amplitude 3, Guitar Rig 5, and a product I purchased from Waves which I forgot name.

I realize this is subjective, but one VST must stand out as being the very best, most realistic sounding, without being overly complicated. I had a Yahama THX-10 5 watt modeling amp that had a USB output which unfortunately broke. But when I used the output from that little amp, it blew the doors off the software plugins available at the time.

I have Komplete Ultimate 10 which comes with Guitar Rig 5. I can't say I love this VST even though it has decent sounds.

Guitar is my main instrument so getting the best possible guitar sound it very important to me. I live in an apt so I am not going to be micing an amp.

The only option I was thinking about because it would be used live as well as in the studio, is possibly the Line 6 Helix. I know the tones that can be produced with that external until are amazing.

For now, I just want the very best possible modelng software and if you tell me Guitar Rig 5 is the best, my search is over.

I have not been paying attention to this niche area so I do not know which guitar software is considered the top in 2016.

Thanks

i recently was checking out what guitar stuff is now available. i demoed the Scuffham thing but the fiddly old interface put me off.

in addition to the Scuffham stuff, also worth considering are:

http://kazrog.com/products/thermionik/

note that Thermionik/Recabinet now consists of a whole bunch of individual plugins, so if you are after an all-in-one interface that will drive you nuts.

some people really like the Bias stuff too:

for iPad my current fave is ToneStack:

I liked Amplitube before I got a valve amp to mic up instead! I could get some quite nice boxy bluesy tones out of the AC30 models.

One recommendation I heard is investing in a good Tape Saturation plugin as it helps smooth out the high end in a lot of harsh Amp emulations.

I hear good stuff about the Poulin freeware plugins as well.
