Hi!
Unfortunately my old macbook pro is not keeping up with modern audio production anymore. I have to increase buffersizes, freeze tracks or skip certain plugins completely.
So a new laptop needs to be bought.
Now the recent Macbook pro Models look stunning butjust have thunderboltports (no small usb plug usage here to add some gig storage, need adapters for nearly all my gear etc), and are ridicolously overpriced.
I m aworking with OS X since quite a while but my inital reason to switch (Logic) isn't there anymore as I am using Live as my DAW.
I had really good experiences with Apple latops in the past and I love the system but even being able to spend 3300 Euros for an okish model I just think this is too much (also keepping in mind how OS X becomes more and more cluttered with stuff I don'T need).
The alternative was a dell xps 15. For 1900 Euro I get a really good model.
Specwise it would probably beat the macbook pro. The design isn't as sleek but I will just use it for music so for looking fancy on a trip I can still grab my old macbook (nah I am joking).
I don'T know about windows 10. How good is the system?
I had literally no bluescreens since I switched to OS X and my system crashes maybe every 6-9 months.
It is a really tough bet.
Any ideas on this?
Cheers,
Jens
Audio Laptop - MB pro or Dell XPS 15
Re: Audio Laptop - MB pro or Dell XPS 15
The Dell is one of many options.
You can get a laptop with 7th gen i7 cpu and dedicated GPU for about $1900 probably with 64 GB DDR4 3000 You can add ram on most laptops easily unlike a Mac. Makes video work well.
And a touchscreen, lots of usb ports (usb3 etc) and SD card.
Windows 10 is great.

hey there,
I got a thinkpad t460p this year, and Im happy with it.
its a i7 quadcore, and very quiet. (not only) for lenovo stuff I recommend to buy an 1 or 2TB internal SSD yourself,
Its much cheaper. many live shows and no problems with win10 so far (6 months..)
i7 Quad Core, 14" ips screen, 1,9 kg, geforce grafics, 1080px or 2560px choice..
around 1600,- EUR!
cheers
