Regarding M4L Essential's Multimap.amxd Device

Post by pranavakazack » Tue Feb 21, 2017 2:15 am

Problem: Bypass State On or Off is not getting saved in .adg ableton file extensions.

Description
I am heavily using Multimap to pre-configure mapping destinations in advanced.
So what I do is let's say I want the LFO M4L Device to be already pre-configured to the Auto Filter's "Frequency" & "Resonance" parameter so that I can choose either & both of the parameter to be modulated by the LFO Rate.

I use the bypass button next to "Map" dialogue box in Multimap for that so that I can quickly switch between tweaking the parameter real time & modulate it with an LFO.

Refer to Attachments
When I save my Audio effect rack containing the LFO.amxd & Auto Filter as an test.adg preset, the BYPASS State does not get saved & everytime I recall the preset, the bypass button defaults to OFF everytime despite what its state was earlier during saving the preset.

Two things :

- There is a bug with the mapping part of the device. Indeed, when you unmap a parameter and save the set, when you reload the set, it's mapped again. It's been confirmed by Ableton. I can't believe how few people notice it. You should report this to Ableton as well.
I tried to fix this myself but failed. I should take another look but it's more complicated than it looks.

- What you call "bypass", is not really bypassing, it's deleting the link. But i admit that it would be handy to add a control to "release" the parameter. Is this what you'd want to do ?

Yes I meant to "release" the parameter, what I essentially want to do is have a preset of modulation destinations & simply enable or disable 1 or many of them like in a modulation matrix.
If you think about it, you might know that we put a lot of thought when we decide what modulation destination should it go into. If these are then saved as a preset & we choose 1 or multiple of them, the workflow becomes so easy.
The problem with Live is that you can feel the software lagging or hanging when you use the "Map" feature.

Should I report it as a bug or is it already registered in the beta forums?

I used the Honey Mapper.amxd, if you disable the rack, it release its control :D, its a partial solution still!
