32 vs 64 bit

when i got ableton live years ago i read the 32 vs 64 bit thing and decided on 32

now i am looking at a vst (amplitube max) and it says it requires 64 bit system.
i have a new computer set up and it of course is 64 bit compatible
but my question is if i am using live 9 at 32 bits will i not be able to use this as a vst plug in because it is 64 bit?
any help appreciated.

Correct, you'd need to install the 64bit version of Live to use 64bit plug ins. You can install both side by side if you want, though personally I feel the writing has been on the wall for 32bit for awhile now. Might be better to just bite the bullet and start using the new standard if you won't lose too many plug ins.
