Rendering separate tracks at once
Hello,
I can't seem to find any information on this subject here or Google, so I thought I'd ask.
I would like to take a recording I've done in Ableton, render all of the tracks separately and mix them in another DAW. However, the only way I've found to do this is to render each track separately, one at a time. And this takes FOREVER to do, and lots of constant attention.
Is there any possible way to render all tracks as separate wav files, in one action?
Thanks

Re: Rendering separate tracks at once
This is how you do it:
1. Export audio
2. Under rendered tracks choose "all tracks" instead of "master"

Thats a cool tip! On a related note - why is it that when you rename an audio file (in, say, arrangement view), it is not renamed on the hard drive . . . I have to be careful when sharing files with band mates to keep track of everything, and it gets ugly fast - the only way that I have found that works easily is to open them in an external editor and save them with a useful name. How does everyone else deal with this. I am probably being stupid . . . .

Remember that this doesn't render the return tracks into the corresponding tracks but you'll just get the returns as separate tracks. If you want each track to contain the aux-track information as well, you have to solo one track at a time and render them separately.gunforhire wrote:This is how you do it:

Sorry for the late response for this, but thanks so much! Such a simple thing I overlooked!

Rename the clip, then join it (ctrl + j).mojofunk wrote:Thats a cool tip! If you know what you want to name it before you record it, renaming the channel to whatever you want it to be first will name the audio clip that.

Re: Rendering separate tracks at once
It would be nice to be able to export selected tracks (we can as of Live 9) with the returns mixed into each individual track, like you would get if you exported each track individually.
A trick I use for making exporting stems individually easier, is to make a blank clip that extends the whole length of your song perfectly. Then you can solo your track, click the blank clip (which sets the export start/end points), and export each track.
Saves a bunch of time and any issues with things lining up later

Yes & no. If you do this, playing every exported tracks at once will not sound as the original mix with several tracks going to the same returns.
Btw, no need to insert a blank clip, just set the loop brace.

But when you play back all tracks exported like that together it won't sound like it does when playing back in Live, so why would you even want to do that? How can you later change effects levels for just the one track if you mixed the original and effects return together?DjScottBrio wrote:It would be nice to be able to export selected tracks (we can as of Live 9) with the returns mixed into each individual track, like you would get if you exported each track individually.
I print my returns to new tracks instead. That is if I need to export all audio in separate tracks.
Make some music!
