Is Live9/64 ready for prime time ?

Post by aklisiewicz » Sat Mar 11, 2017 4:24 pm

After upgrading from Live 7 to Live 9 I have nothing but problems. I wonder if anybody else is successfully using Live 9 64 bit on Windows-10 machine. Since I have 32 Gig of RAM I decided to install Live9/64. Firstly I run into licensing problems which usually happen to me on a weekend when I have time to work with this stuff. There is no wat to reset unlocking counter (i.e going to my account on-line). THAT SUCKS ! Of course I have sent a request for reset 3-4 days ago and it was ignored. ABLETON - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ???
This is bran newly installed copy of Win10/64. Nor really much software on it yet. Yesterday I installed Live and tried to activate it and of course it was giving me a message - it cannot unlock. In the meantime I started installing NI-SELECT software for my new keyboard. Since the process takes long time I let it run and wen to bed. Next morning I found NI-Access crashed and only installed 3 components. Reboot my PC and re-started NI installation. In the meantime I tried Live and it crashes now immediately while showing the logo.
I have only installed Live no extra plugins or Live PAcks. I think at the moment NI installation has nothing to do with Live (but I might be wrong on this one).

When I tried 64 bit version about 4-5 months ago I could not even register any external plugin and there was many issues. I was hoping that after few months Ableton has fix the problems. Is there anybody running Live9/64 on Win10/64 ?

How can I troubleshoot it ?

Sounds like you are just having some major issues there all around. If it's a fairly fresh system, have you tried reinstalling the OS and starting from a clean slate? That might help you troubleshoot it being possibly a hardware error or something too if this is a new computer.

Erik - that's what I just did. Brand new Win10 install. 5 months ago I installed Live9/64. It did not work so I replaced it with 32bit version. I worked ok but because of RAM limits I wanted to go to 64 bit.

And you're sure it's not a plug in interaction maybe causing the issue? All your plug ins are 64bit and ready to go?

If it's not fresh systems, reinstall it anyway. Old systems tend to get messed up if you don't care

I didn't have any issues with Live install ever.

No problems but I did a W7 to 10 upgrade. No fresh install. There are some licensing files in Live. I did a fresh install two years ago with W7 and added those licensing files. They might be in app data.
