play, pause, resume midi in arrangement view

Post by peaveyfan » Thu Mar 30, 2017 2:01 am

I want to put a set together for a concert. I know how to squeeze a few songs together so there is no "dead air space". I know how to make a "stop" clip when I want to pause for a minute to engage the crowd. However, when I hit the play button again, the cursor reverts back to where it was before I stopped the clip. I want to set a midi note, via foot switch, to start playback after the midi stop clip. How do I do that?

Thanks,
Chris

I don't understand. Are you using session view?

you can do that by holding down shift then hitting the space bar
you can't midi map that directly
but you could use a midi to keystroke converter

My apologies Adam. I am in Arrangement View. If you can hit shift+space, I can understand how that would be difficult to midi map, but you can do it in pro tools, playback from the last point you stopped. I'm surprised Ableton doesn't have that in settings somewhere.

Playback from the last stop point... that's exactly what shift+space does.
If your issue is that you need to midi map it, then you can do it with M4L if you have it.

This just saved me years of my life. I'd knight you if I had the power.
