If Transport is on, using up/down arrows = legato clip mode

When the transport is running, if i stop a clip playing by moving arrow button up to empty clip, then the clip stops, but if I move back down, the clip picks up where it would be playing (As though legato clip mode was on). How can I stop this from happening. Or do I have to stop Transport every time i use the up/down arrows to stop a clip.
