Scenes not trigger record clip option
Scenes not trigger record clip option
hi all,
Firstly let me say that it is sad to see so many posts on the mac vs pc thing.
This forum needs some direction.
OK, now to business...
Obviously recording features on Live need some work, but as a short term fix, please can we have an option to turn off the scene triggering recording on armed tracks.
The only way I can see recording to be anywhere near convienient is to leave the tracks armed.
however, this stuffs up any use of scenes.
the other problem is that monitor is switched on automatically, we really need an option to turn that off if required.
These are big problems for me, and Im sure many other users out there who do ANY amount of live recording.
so,
to recap
1. Please have optional scene-does-not-trigger-record
2. Please have optional arm-track-does-not-enable-monitor
thanks

K,
If you remove the slotbutton of the clip [ctrlE] of the scene you do not want to record on , you won't record on that crossing of your track/scene matrix ... if I understand your problem correctly

optional scene-does-not-trigger-record
I agree strongly with the optional scene-does-not-trigger-record. That's a great idea!
We're aware that you can remove the slot button, but that also removes the option to remote trigger record later on.

Mbazzy, you insult me
I must have been on these forums as long as you!
Yes, you can remove the slot, but this means that you can't record on a clip there.
Of course you could just record somewhere else, and remove slots which may interfere (=stop) on other tracks, but then you loose the whole scene advantage.
This suggestion is more of a 'stepping stone' on the way to better recording abilities.

I already thought my answer was too simple , K ... my sincere apolagises ... lol
Could you give me a scenario where you would want to record on a scene at one occasion and not on another occasion ...

mbazzy, i forgive you.
bassically,
where you would want this is if you are recording loops on the fly, say you have 'verse' and 'chorus' section.
you want to record some stuff in the verse... then go to chorus...then back to verse
so you want to use scenes, but you want to leave things armed.
that explain it?

hey pixelmechanic..
maybe there are ENOUGH forums around the net dedicated to it already, thank you very much!!
Glad you 'got it' Mbazzy, even through my explanation!
There are a few things like this around Live, just really need some options, or something. I normally don't like too many options in software.
What, in my non-humble opionion, here would be nice is my idea of being able to put 'walls' or 'curtains' around certain slots, or groups of slots, so they are not effected by scenes etc. A simple form of grouping.
something like 'select slots', then press 'fortify' button.
a little 'wall' is put around them.
something like that. easy to see, easy to understand. no hidden menus
