Is there an effect to sound a constant note in chuncks.
Like a constant whole note in 4/4 or 8/8 or variations
like 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/2. Sort of an automated gate.

You could use an LFO tool to modulate volume.

Or you could use automation to modulate volume. Better yet, whack a utility device on the track, and use automation to modulate gain freeing up volume.

In that case modifying the piano-roll
manually, seems better. Such a MIDI-effect
does not exist?
