MFL 'Follow' scenes

Post by JAMM » Mon Jan 15, 2018 8:14 pm

Hey,

Because live still cant't do this i'm looking to gonna use MFL isotonik device "follow" to trigger scenes automatically.
i have some questions....

-Anyone uses this in a live situation and so yes is it always reliable or does it sometimes misses a cue to the next scene.
-Also i,m on the edge off the CPU on a 2011 duo-core MBP so is this MFL device uses a lot off CPU?
-And i have like 20 tracks with clips going in some scene with different clip-lengths like 32 bars and also 8 and 4 bars...do i have to throw the MFL device on the channel with the longest clips?
-also i have like 200+ scenes in one live-set and i wanna be able to stop the device manually and start it later again manually in the liveset....often with a different tempo BPM...is this a problem?

Thanks in advance for some answers...

No two systems are alike so we built in a Trigger Time value which you can increase to call the Follow action chosen slightly earlier to give your system the chance to process the request.

It uses relatively little CPU...

You put the device in a click track with clips set to the length you want the scene to play for.

You can stop a set at any time, trigger the scene you want to carry on with.

Hi D,

Thanks for some answers..

Most off the clips in my scenes have different lengths...some are 32 bars and some only 4 which are looping.
Does all the clips in a scene has to be the same length?

And how much CPU it uses? 5, 10, 20%?
I have loads off tracks and scenes and only a 2011 MBP so every % counts;)

No the clips can be any length in the scene, your Click Track clip defines how long they will play for.

We're talking under 5% for the device....

No, you still have to follow the time based grid for which Live runs on...

Triggering the next clip happens prior to the end of the current one, if the current one isn't in a length that's divisable by the launch quantisation there's going to be a gap.

Hi D, (I suspect darren;)

I have bought the follow mfl plug-in or the modulair pack on the website.
Works fine and easy and happy with it.

Sometimes after loading a new live set you have to wait a bit so it can load the first scenes? not a big problem.

But when i then try to load a new liveset ableton suddenly closes and crashes somewere between closing the old liveset and starting up the new one. Is this a bug?

before updating to live 10 does the follow device still works in 10 because off the new mfl integration?
