A sticky for working/(currently)non-working M4L Devices ?

Post by vanhaze » Thu Feb 08, 2018 7:03 am

Is it maybe an idea to create a sticky for working/(currently)non-working M4L Devices in L10 ?
I mean those M4L's from the popular M4L device providers like:

- audiomodern
- max4cats
- isotonik
- and even Ableton's own native M4L Devices ..

Even maybe better would be that these companies release an official statement about this subject, here on the forum. :!:

I don't own any devices from these companies but i am interested in alot of them for purchase.

So, now being on Live 10, curious about if they will work or not.
I assume i am not the only L10 user wanting to know this.

Nothing changed to break those devices.
And nothing got fixed that was already broken before. It just all loads faster.
Also, most people that make these devices have been testing L10 for a long time.

I can confirm, that when using this CTRLR Editor for an Oberheim Matrix 1000 -> http://ctrlr.org/matrix-6/ on a windows 7 machine, M4L won`work correct anymore (stock devices + 3rd party)
No Sound, No Midi, GUI Freezes.

Developer is contacted about this issue.
Could be, that other editors built with the (great) CTRLR Software causes issues in the M4L system too..

Do we know for sure that nothing has changed in Max 8 that could cause issues though?

I wouldn't expect it, because backwards compatibility at all costs is sort of a mantra for Cycling.

No, not for sure. Since we didn't get a changelog.
Besides a new logo, the faster loading and the live.banks object... I don't think much changed in the Max 8 build we got. Its Max 7 in a new coat.
Even C74 states that the MFL build has a few under-the-hood changes and not much more. The "real" Max 8 is still yet to come in Q2.
The question of what is broken or not will be need to asked again when we get the actual big update.
Not sure why something like the CTRLR app/vst would break stuff, but the errors in the Max window would probably provide a pretty decent clue.
As for scripts, Darren stated he'll do the needed updates when things were finalised. He'll likely confirm this in 3...2...1... ;)

Which are not MaxforLive, and only supporting Live 9....

I have a bunch of weird and half-assed utilities and controller devices that seem to work just as well in 10 as they did in 9.

Take that for what it is worth. :D
