When in note mode Push will Pseudo arm the track and will record as soon as a clip starts.
Is there a way to disable this "feature"?

Pseudo arming happens for any channel which is highlighted or selected.
In Preferences there is a choice to determine whether or not launching a clip will automatically select a channel. You can turn that off and it won't jump to the channel of a clip which is launched. But it will still always arm any channel that is selected manually.

No it is how Push works.
As I explained in the other thread, when you need to record without overwriting just switch to Session mode. It's an easy workaround that you just need to do. If it helps, think of it as "That is the way you switch it off".
