is high sierra recommended for ableton 10?
i haven't updated to high sierra (always scared of updates), but should i be doing it with ableton 10?
ableton and serato are by far my most important uses on my MBP 20162.6 I7 16GB RAM, currently running sierra
thanks in advance.
i did notice this one seems a little laggy w some things compared to 9.

Do you have any reason to update to High Sierra???
It seems ok for some users, but I've seen many people having issues with this OS.
Personnaly, I wouldn't update.

Been on High Sierra since day one, it's working fine with Ableton Live 10. No difference at all for me compared to Sierra in day to day use.

I wasn’t contradicting JUR, just sharing my own experience with High Sierra.

It’s all good.
For me right now, my biggest motivation is to make the computers stop asking me if I want to update... If there’s a tangible benefit, then I’m game. But as it stands, it looks more like Apple’s way of depriciating older hardware. My late 2011 model iMac is getting noticeably slower... which makes little sense because besides OS updates I’ve only used it for iTunes. I’ve been using my MBP instead. So if nothing has changed but the OS and 1 application, it makes me suspicious. Especially after reading about High Sierra laying the ground work for future “platform enhancements”.

Updated to High Sierra 10.13.3 and have 9.7.5 for two days now.
So far everything seems ok.
so, next stop: Ableton 10!

I have similar fears about OS updates but upgraded from Yosemite to High Sierra after discovering I couldn't use Live 10 on Yosemite.
High sierra is working really great for me so far. Working faster than Yosemite for me.

I upgraded to High Sierra and lost my Bluetooth. Worst ever OSX update. I have seen similar issues, but its forced me to have to consider buying a new Mac.
Nothing official on the internet but others also have lost bluetooth. No matter what you do you cannot get it back.
So watch out, I wish I had never upgraded becuase going back does not resolve it, I think it does something to firmware as well.

That would be a major fiasco as Magic Mouse and Trackpads rely on Bluetooth so you wouldn't be able to use your computer after upgrading. I would imagine Apple dealing with an issue like that pretty quickly. Or are you just talking about Bluetooth speakers/phone connections?

Re: is high sierra recommended for ableton 10?
I've had no problems with High Sierra upgrade to date. Feels quicker to me than previous OS in most things I do, not just Ableton.
High Sierra does have a new default filesystem, so I am wondering if that has had an adverse effect for some users. I think the filesystem changes improve stability of SSD. If you are not running SSD and instead have standard HD or Fusion then you are likely to have problems.... well that's my understanding anyhow.

It speeds up file transfers on the same SSD. GB sized files transfer almost instantly, it’s very nice.
