Recording vocals over a beat and hearing beat same time

How to record vocals over a beat in Ableton and hear yourself while recording. Please help.
1204 Xenyx behringer USB mixer and audio interface. Connected via USB to labtop . Mic CO1U plug ged into audo interface. Load beat onto audio track. But mic just won't pick up. All yellow buttons on bottom right are lit. Anyone?? Help a newbie. Thanks in advance.

Had a look at the manual for your mixer, it does not appear that there is an easy way to do what you want, it's not really an interface per say, more a mixer with limited in/out functionality. You would generally set up a track in Live to accept your incoming signal and either monitor through the interface or Live (which ever had less latency). That mixer only sends/receives a stereo track so you could route the beat to the mixer and route back the audio into Live and record that way but your vocal would be combined with the beat.

Best bet is either use your computer's native sound card or pick up a proper interface that will allow you to send discrete channels into Live while monitoring the output of Live.

As far as setting up tracks in Live to record, I would recommend having a look at the manual/lessons in Live, it's explained pretty well.
