Enlarging Font in Live 10
Enlarging Font in Live 10
Anyone know how to enlarge the font in Live 10 so it is closer to Live 9?
Re: Enlarging Font in Live 10
Adjusting the GUI zoom settings?
Re: Enlarging Font in Live 10
The new font is not an improvement on L9, it's thinner and more difficult to read.

Exactly the reason I won't upgrade. and a real shame.

The font has been refined in the latest betas and the readability is now greatly improved even though it’s still thinner than previous Live versions.

I have not upgraded due to this issue, but just download the latest beta and the issue persists.
on a 28 inch display the font is so thin that I have to squint so much to see them that it's just a fuzzy mess.
I most certainly could not work with the current font.

I can't comment on how you find it, that's your own feeling -
but for myself I find the font in the latest Beta to be a noticable improvement.
10.03.b5 on an old screen looks nice and legible, and I was quite complainy about the previous font on a low-res screen.
Note: I still have my Live zoom set to 130% because my eyes are old.
For those not on the beta - here's a comparisson. You should be able to guess which is which, I forgot to label them.

And there you have it, you have to zoom 130% losing screen space.
Ableton are you listening ? why should users with large displays have to zoom away their display.
Please fix this, lord know how many users have shown this to be a problem.

Looks fine in my eyes and an improvement over the old font.

Angstrom posted info on how to change the font to one of your own choosing in Live 10 in this thread:

Re: Enlarging Font in Live 10
It's got nothing to do with "needing glasses" the font has changed and it is thinner and smaller so that is why it's hard to work with on large displays now.
9 was and is totally fine.

Seems to me this (above link) should cure ALL ills from a font perspective.Tarekith wrote:Angstrom posted info on how to change the font to one of your own choosing in Live 10 in this thread:

I just bumped my Live zoom level to 110% and it's much better font-size wise,
and although I did lose just a BIT of my display, it's nothing F11 won't cure,
and not bad without it.
There are ALWAYS compromises. There is SO MUCH packed into this DAW that it's
impossible to make everything show large and with plenty of "space" too.
That's why so many things are hidden. Btw, I hide ALL the accessory windows
(browser, help view, Info view, detail view) and if you don't, this helps
immensely with the feeling of SPACE... You can hide almost everything in session view,
and it's there 1-click fast if you need it... and in arrangement view, almost everything
"rolls up" or minimizes horizontal and verticle space requirements.
I just don't think most people are aware of how difficult it is to pack so much
raw power into a DAW's interface without it becoming a mess, and confusing.
You might say I drank the Ableton "cool-aid" but I wouldn't say it if it
weren't true. Find me something "perfect"... then, buy it.
Or... as in the quote, change the font to one of your own choosing.
Personally I wouldn't allow my not upgrading to one problem so simply
(albeit not perfectly) customizable. There are THOUSANDS of fonts available
for download...

Re: Enlarging Font in Live 10
Tried a good few fonts with the hack but none work on a large screen.
It’s a nightmare on a 28, today we tested on a 48” and the font
Was so thin you could hardly see it.
Ableton are well aware of this but refuse to budge.
It’s this kind of arrogance that causes users to change daws or not upgrade.
It’s all very well taking the “I’m alright jack attitude”
But that is just plain selfish.
Ps the new super thin font looks great on 13” laptop.

Give them some time. I often don't upgrade to a new anything
(especially an O.S.!) until the "Crash Test Dummies" work the bugs
out with tech support... then there's updates, bug fixes and
"White Papers" (we used to call them!)
btw, have you tried a BOLD FACE font? Just a shot in the dark...
Shit I forgot! Try backing down your desktop DPI... could help too

Re: Enlarging Font in Live 10
Cheers, tried many large fonts but none work, must be some internal code that is changing the font types.
Ps, this is with the latest 10x betas as stated I have not upgraded.
There are still bugs in 9x that I have repeatedly reported but never got fixed yet so don't hold much hope.
Changing desktop dpi is not an option because it would then change every other app and actually defeat the object of using a large screen. No different to zooming.
