Link playback heads in arrangment timeline and clip editor
There should be a toggle button that allows you to link playback head location in the main arrangement timeline and the clip editor area so spacebar plays back from whatever location you selected last in either arrangement timeline or clip editor. This way you can press spacebar to play from an area you are editing in clip view without moving the mouse up to the scrub area to click for playback. The way it works now, spacebar always plays from the play head selection in the arrangement timeline and you have to click in the scrub area to play back from a different location in the clip editor view. It seems petty but this one function makes Pro Tools and Digital Performer faster than Live for MIDI editing.

Totally agree, should be faster to start from wherever inside a clip when editing.
Actually Im starting to feel ableton has lost some of its advantages on fast editing in the arrangement as well (fades etc makes mouse-work a bit cumbersome).

In Live 10 with editing multiple MIDI parts, this is even more essential, but there is this:schaeffertone wrote:There should be a toggle button that allows you to link playback head location in the main arrangement timeline and the clip editor area so spacebar plays back from whatever location you selected last in either arrangement timeline or clip editor. In Live 10 there is a "Multi-clip Title Bar and Scrub Area" at the top of the MIDI editor and clicking a location there will play back all parts from that location. It's not as good as what I was looking for, something linking the playback cursor in the Arragement view to where you click in the MIDI editor, but scrub area playback works.

You can press alt+spacebar and it will play back from the midi editor locator. I'd still rather use a toggle button on the transport though.Katkins wrote:In Live 10 with editing multiple MIDI parts, this is even more essential, but there is this:schaeffertone wrote:There should be a toggle button that allows you to link playback head location in the main arrangement timeline and the clip editor area so spacebar plays back from whatever location you selected last in either arrangement timeline or clip editor.
