Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
Hello wiffbi,
I'm really loving STC, and how it allows me to do virtually everything from the keyboard. . except for zooming unfortunately.
I've rigged up a Max for Live device that allows me to zoom horizontally and vertically in Arrangement view, but because I need to key-map it, this adds to the undo list. Also, it doesn't work in Detail View.
Is there a way to modify STC to include zooming? Could point me towards some kind of resource, as I'm new to control scripts and have absolutely no idea how to proceed? Alternately, I'm happy to donate some cash if this is a feature you could add. Either way, I'd be very appreciative if you could help me get unstuck.
Thanks and have a great day!
James

Takeover mode problem has disappeared. Pickup now works. STC is still a great tool. I do hope some with tech knowledge can keep maintaining itre:dream wrote:Any chance of value scaling and pickup becoming possible for takeover mode? The abrupt changes is a real killer when using STC for live shows...

Hi there, firstly big thanks for taking the time create this!
Been mouse bound for years so a bit clueless when it comes to MIDI CCs and remote scripts.
Trying to control selected track volume from an encoder on my Novation Nocturn. Sending as an absolute value on CC 7 does work but causes undesirable value jumping when switching between tracks.
Learning about 'relative 2's complement' for the first time, I think this is what I need but having trouble configuring my controller. Default settings cause erratic behaviour as expected.
Here's a screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvw5jryesbz43 ... 1.png?dl=0
What should the range values be for proper rel2comp behaviour?
Thanks again!
Joe

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
10 years on and this is still one of the most useful scripts for Ableton.
Lately I've been using STC in conjunction with Bomes to navigate Live using keys WASD (like playing a first person shooter).
This way, you can always be hardwired into track and clip navigation ie. the cursor keys do not change focus.
Another really useful function is Scrub. If you use this in conjunction with Alt-Space you can effectively navigate the Arrange regardless of focus.

Hi @wiffbi, Hi all!
although I'm not a regular Live user, I really do like to control it using my computer keyboard. I find STC (http://stc.wiffbi.com/) with its macOS companion app Kimidi very useful. Thank you @wiffbi!
But as you may know, Kimidi is not compatible with Catalina...so I've forked the original on GitHub and made some changes to make it work on Catalina.
Here's my fork: https://github.com/matatata/Kimidi/
I've also made available a binary release: https://github.com/matatata/Kimidi/releases/tag/1.3.0.
Update: 1.3.0 contained a code signature not suitable for distribution. If it causes problems for you, please try https://github.com/matatata/Kimidi/releases/tag/1.3.2. It has no code signature at all.
Have fun. I haven't found any issues yet, but in case you find some, feel free to let me know or to fix them yourself - the code is out there

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
Hey.
I tried a lot of Midi Remote Scripts and ended up using Selected Track Control. It is the most useful one for me. Thank you very much wiffbi for your work.
I am part of the Live 11 beta and as of the newest Version (22) STC stopped working. I reached out to the Beta Team and they told me:
With Live 11.0b22, we've finished updating Python to version 3 in Live. As a result, lots of custom and user remote scripts won't work anymore and need to be updated for Live 11.
We've mentioned this in the Release Notes (12 bullet point): https://www.ableton.com/en/release-notes/live-11-beta/
Sadly I know almost nothing about coding, so i can't update STC myself. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this or is able to update the script. I really don't know if this is something more advanced and sophisticated, like a complete rework or if minor adjustments are enough to make it work again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a util to update v2 to v3...just google it and run the existing .py through it...I heard that it works for other stuff.

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
Thanks. I tried a different online converter but it didn't work. Live 11 found errors which are beyond my, non-existent, python knowledge.
I'll have a go at setting up python on my pc tomorrow and give it a go.

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
You can use Futility which basically does the same things but is M4L, so no python, script etc...

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
Can you delete contents of log.txt
Restart Live
Close and attach the log file here?
I use to program M4L but it just makes things way more complex. STC is great and way better native; just needs an update which is going to be fairly basic

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts
I made some minor changes to the python scripts of Selected Track Control.
For me it works now with Live 11 and python 3.
