TIPS on using OBS and Ableton for Livestreaming?

Post by junqueira » Mon Oct 01, 2018 8:11 pm

I can only have a few tracks/plug ins open at one time before getting serious stutters/lag. I have to set the buffer to 256 which is a little annoying; wish it could go lower without the lagging. Do you all have this problem as well?

when I've used OBS I've not noticed any particular issues.

generally it's quite smooth. on my setup, the cpu meter in obs is around 0.7 to 1.2% normally. it's not very significant, but it still eats into the dsp a little, it's like you're running an invisible old vst in the background.

but sometimes, inexplicably, the cpu is like between 2 and 3%. when that happens, random audio problems occur. weird things, like how moving windows around the screen may suddenly cause clicks. then I must either restart obs and see if cpu is back down to 1%, or if not, reboot. it's pretty strange. I wonder if anyone else has seen something like that.
