Make "Assign Track Colour to Clips" the last menu option

Post by Out Of My System » Wed Sep 26, 2018 9:18 pm

In arrangement view, I'm always colour-coding tracks and groups and will access the right-click menu multiple times a session to set the colour I want. If you're moving quickly, it's too easy to choose the last option on the menu which is "Save as Default Audio (or Midi) Track" and get a prompt if you wish to override the current default. The "Save as Default.." should be a toolbar menu item anyway as it's going to be used rarely. And while I'm at it, I don't need nearly 70 possible track colours. 10 or 20 tops, and that's pushing it. The one you do have selected needs to be highlighted better than 'slightly smaller than the rest'.

I personally like the color choices in live, because I use variations in color to visually remind myself of variations in the clips I use....i.e. "this is 1/4 note fill, but it's got some difference at the end of it". I always use a set of about 8 colors to break up my arrangements, and inveitably end up hunting through the full list to find them again. Having an option to "favorite" some of them separating them from the full rack would be helpful.

I too use the "Assign Track Color to Clips" option constantly and I would like it to have a hotkey and key mapping support. Frankly anything that I have to right-click to do needs a keyboard shortcut / key mapping alternative. Different people do the use things in different ways. I say let them.
