headphones?

Post by Sebastian » Sat Oct 06, 2018 9:21 pm

Hi all,

What are some popular headphones for my home music studio?

I want some that are comfortable to stay around my neck and a manageable chord and of course good audio quality?

Audio-Technica ATH-M50X without any questions. Nice price and very nice sound. Very popular.

That's what I'm using too, they are good and quite transparent. The M70 are even better but more expensive.

i would buy new... especially if you get the Beyer Dynamic DT 770 or 880... they have super soft and comfy velvet-ish pads on them... might as well have clean headphones so you can get more mileage out of them.

the MT-50 are amazing too, but the ear covers are a vinyl stuff... so it's at least easy to clean if you do go used.

either of the brands mentioned will last you for years and the price is small compared to the how great they are and how helpful they can be to your mixing.

Yeah i'd never buy second hand cans:

- No idea the punishment they have been through
- Not a fan of putting 10 years of someone else's sweaty/greasy ears around my own.

There are so many options around and people can only suggest what they have experience with which will wildly differ.

I started and stuck with AKG but I find the latest K712 to be of very poor quality compared to my older K240. I really like the headband on these as it is so comfortable for long periods. I tried some KRK headphones and hated almost every aspect of them.
