Loop 2018 - what do you think they'll announce?
Loop 2018 - what do you think they'll announce?
So, Loop is coming up and there's a chance Ableton will announce something. Perhaps a 10.1 with some fancy new feature ( MPE !?) .
Perhaps a new device, or an update to an old one? Perhaps a Max 8 related thing. Or an integration of Melodyne? Or a new hardware device like Push 3. Or they could announce nothing at all.
Place your bets

Missing VST3 in the list!Angstrom wrote:So, Loop is coming up and there's a chance Ableton will announce something. Perhaps a 10.1 with some fancy new feature ( MPE !?) .

I'll eat a hat made of loop packs and pro-quality retro-influenced minimal industrial beats if they announce support of Steinberg's VST3 at the Ableton event.redglass wrote: Missing VST3 in the list!

I'm going with MPE. I don't think we'll see a push3 just yet, if anything maybe some kinda of push mini or push add on faders or something.

I would join infront of Ableton headquater if they implement VST3. Its unfortunately a must when it comes to VR Audio tools. And that's the Future!Angstrom wrote:I'll eat a hat made of loop packs and pro-quality retro-influenced minimal industrial beats if they announce support of Steinberg's VST3 at the Ableton event.redglass wrote: Missing VST3 in the list!
Maybe Ableton is planning a pack that offers VR Sound, that would be another solution!

Re: Loop 2018 - what do you think they'll announce?
Well, it's worth noting that Push 2 came out exactly 3 years ago, and Push 1 came out exactly 3 years before that. So if they are on a 3 year release cycle now would be the time.
They could alternatively bring out a partner instrument, something like a multitouch MPE keyboard (!). That would be commercially quite a good move as everyone who bought a Push could also be in the market to purchase the new hardware. If they bring out Push 3 they need to wait for every Push 2 user to sell their old controller.
I think it's more likely if they announce anything it will be MPE in the new automation pane, and a Push2 firmware update to capitalise on that.
