Vst vs AU macOS mojave

Post by Ast3rix » Mon Nov 05, 2018 10:13 pm

Hi,

I have a noob question. I noticed that all of my vst’s are highly disorganized where as the list of those same plugins are organized by manufacturer in the au folder? Is there something I can do to change this for vst? It drives me crazy when I’m looking for something. I realize that I could just type it in, but that’s not my workflow.

yes, you can make folders for each manufacturer or category in your main VST folder, and move your VSTs into those folders. these folders will then appear in the Live plugin browser.

the main downside is that whilst more and more VST installers create their own manufacturer folders these days, many still don't. so after a plugin update, it is sometimes necessary to manually move the newer version into its folder. also, very occasionally you might run into a plugin that won't work if you move it from the top level VST folder (the Waves WaveShells and the fxpansion BFD plugins have this issue)...

This is very odd behavior I never had to do this in reason. It was automatically organized by manufacturers. This seems like more than just lack of the vst manufactures making things organized. This looks like an ableton software orangizational issue as well. The au’s are all organized in ableton.
