Communications hacked

Post by dgl1217 » Wed Nov 14, 2018 3:57 pm

I recently received one of those "I have hacked your email account and have your password... pay me $750 in BitCoin and I WON'T release your information... oh, and, by the way, I've hacked your computer and have seen the X-rated websites you visit... and if you don't believe me, your password is 'XXXX'"

I use a different password on every email account and every website I visit, so it was pretty easy to track down that this particular password belonged ONLY to "Ableton.com". So, I don't know if it was intercepted between me and Ableton.com, or if Ableton.com has been hacked and the password information stolen...

I felt obliged to report this, and, since I can't see a place for problems like this, I turned to the forums.

Good luck

If you think you have a security issue with your ableton account, probably best to contact support with the details. The forums are only for user to user interactions most of the time, not really the best place to report this kind of thing.

Unrelated to my ableton account though.
