Why can't Ableton make it easy to upload forum-pictures?

Post by vido » Fri Oct 26, 2018 11:03 pm

I am actually a bit annoyed about this.

Every day thousands(?) of users of Ableton Live read through posts and try to figure out how to do things, ask questions etc, to become better.

Every day a lot of people have to upload images (screenshots for instance) to another website, just to be able to post them in the forum.

Every day hundreds of hours are wasted (collectively; I'm just guessing here, maybe it's thousands, or much less).

The point is other forums have the possibility of dragging and dropping images into the post and voila it's there.

Imagine how much more effective questions would be.

Imagine how much easier it would be to answer questions.

I for one don't even bother most of the time because I have to do that cumbersome route of uploading through another service.

So why can't Ableton make this happen, either by making a new forum, or tweaking this one..?

Thanks for listening.

Not sure what forums you go to, but every forum I frequent (including ones about photography!!!) have similar image upload methods to what this forum has. None of them offer drag and drop.

Facebook and Craigslist, sure, but they are not forums.

Hmm yeah you may be right, but most forums aren't as focused on learning specific procedures and techniques. The one forum I do frequent quite often has the drag and drop-functionality, so maybe I'm just used to that. Either way that we're at the end of 2018 and most forums don't have drag and drop is pretty strange.

Anyway my post is still valid, as users DO lose time with the forum as it is now; not least because we have to interpret text instead of visually interpret the issues for instance (as most users don't go the cumbersome way to take screenshots, upload to an external service and linking here).

You know when a kid moves out and goes to college, but the the kids room is left just the way it was?

The trappings of childhood are preserved, frozen in amber. Posters, schoolbooks, letters, To the casual visitor it may look like a teenager lives here, but its devoid of life now. Just a museum exhibit.
Dad says he wants to strip the room out, but mom wont let him because she often goes back in there and just cries, quietly, all alone with her memories.

Their kid is a big dude in a new city now, has his own life, he has cool friends. Just this weekend he ran a festival in LA!, but he never even called home to say how it all went. He's moved on now and Dad has come to terms with it, perhaps mom will too one day. In a few months bulldozers are gonna flatten this whole neighbourhood and build a Walmart and a multiplex.

In summary: You aint gettin no new features on this forum.

I like that story! Except the Wal-Mart-part of it.

The long awaited son will return home and tell mom and dad he loves them. And he'll mean it, its not just an answer to mom's "I love you"; it's a plea for them to buy a new home: easier to maintain. Dad has started to forget things. Everybody knows that mom may have to take care of everything on her own in a few years. The son wants to help out. The old baseball-stuff is actually worth something and they end up selling it on an auction for several hundred thousand dollars.

Wal-Mart is built, but the parents buys a new apartment by the water-front and lives happily until dad is admitted to a nursing home where he dies in piece.

DOnt know if that made sense at all. Nice forum though.

Because Instagram has better vintage filters than AutoFilter analog modelled ones.

My hunch is, if adding images would be simple, every other forum post would have some laughing face photo or motivational gobbledygook picture...
