MacBook i9

Post by kodaro » Mon Dec 24, 2018 6:04 pm

Thinking about grabbing a 2018 i9, 32gb ram Mac book. Any thoughts from owners? Running a lynx Hilo, push 1, faderport 8, USB midi hub and console 1 as peripherals.

I could also get an i7 but the Delta in price isn't a huge amount and I want the best setup I can get. Currently have a really loaded Xeon Dell precision whose specs are killer but gives me nothing but CPU overload issues and non sense.

I Just want to make music and not fight problems everyday...

Thoughts?

…i‘d (and will) go for the 2.6 i7 since there are too many reports about the i9 running very hot and therefore throttling and having the fans kicking in very early…

I heard that this was resolved by Apple.

…with the software update it got a little better mainly due to the fans ramping up earlier…when you do video or gaming then i9 + the new vega gpu should be the best option, but for music tasks i would go for the „lightest“ gpu to save power…
