laptop with touchscreen as controller
laptop with touchscreen as controller
Hi all,
I have an older laptop (windows 10) with crappy battery and nice touch screen.
I would like to turn this into a fader controller for use with Live on my desktop.
Anybody have any suggestions what and how I could achieve this.
Any apps? Link? Midi?
I have Live 10 standard (so no Max for live).

Re: laptop with touchscreen as controller
not sure how big the screen is on your laptop, but you should probably be prepared to be underwhelmed.
a lot of the controls in Live are too small to use on a touchscreen effectively... especially the mixer in Session view.
also, each of your plugins will likely have it's own quirks and oddities as well.
i am not saying it won't work, but it will likely not be what you currently see in your mind's eye.

I'm sure you're referring to OSC type options? Remote control of Live?
MacBook Pro (MacOS 13.0.1) i9 Processor, 32gb RAM, 4tb SSD
(STUDIO I/O) MOTU UltraLite mk5 (w/ADA8200), (LIVE I/O) Behringer X Air XR18
Ableton Live Suite 11 (Live performances), Studio One 5 (Studio Stem Creation)

Yes, that is more the idea.EnjoyRC wrote:I'm sure you're referring to OSC type options? Remote control of Live?
I don't want to use Live on the laptop. But a fader control app.
So the whole 13" screen estate is only a controller.
Controlling live with touch works fine, great for the XY pads. And OK if you zoom in and only show the faders, but that is not the idea.

I have an older version of this on iPad an it's pretty badass. I believe this version is Windows/touchscreen compatible:

Thanks deebeedave,
I'll have a look at it. Looks like it's exactly what I need.
And I just missed the sale...
Also found Xotopad but touchAble seems a lot better geared towards Ableton.
I'll let you know how I get on with it

I got touchable pro and it works like a charm.
Thanks man!
And with rtpMidi you can connect any 2 computers with 'midi' over lan so you could just use any program that sends out midi to another computer. Well, enough to play around with
