Spinning beachball while changing presets in AU's

Post by vern » Wed Jan 30, 2019 5:37 pm

Hi All

I have recently noticed that when I am using 3rd party Plugs Ins in AU format such at Fab Filter Saturn and UH-E Diva, changing presets results in a spinning beachball and clicks and pops in the master audio. This doesn't happen when using VST's but until recently this didn't happen using AU's either.
Has anyone else noticed this change in behaviour?

best

happens on my brand new Mac Mini (6 core 3.2ghz i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, Macos 10.14.2)

and also on my macbook pro (quad core 2.8ghz i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM)

Do you by any change have a hardware midi controller connected? I have a similar issue with changing presets but only with some AU plugins. Fabfilter Saturn and Pro-Q 3 does this but also a few plugins from other developers. It seems to be related to my Akai APC40 MKII because when I change preset the Device Encoder no. 1 on the Akai flickers erratically. If I turn off the Akai, or lock it to another device, I don't get any flickering and Ableton does hang/no Spinning Beachball. I do not have the same issue with Ableton 9. My computer is a Mac Mini 2018 with an i7 cpu but I had the samme issue with my old Mac Pro 4.1.

That is the question... What has changed in your setup, or which software OS did you update?
There's not many chance that things suddenly change by themselves while you're sleeping. :P
