Installing Live 10.1.0 and 10.0.6 on the same computer

Post by last email » Fri Jun 07, 2019 1:16 pm

Is it possible to install both versions of Live 10.1.0 and 10.0.6 on the same computer? I’ve noticed differences in the audio quality (playback and export) between the two versions.

just install them in different folders. When you install 10.1 it asks if you want to replace or make a new install. choose the second.

Will I be able to open both versions simultaneously and transfer midi and audio clips in older 10.0.6 version? I want to do this because I accidentally saved a project from 10.0.6 in 10.1.0.

you wont be able to open both simultaneously because the first to open locks itself to the database, and the second to open shows a mostly empty browser

but the official way to do this is to open a copy of live and navigate to the set in Browser, unfold the set in the browser, unfold the tracks and drag the clips in.
There's a chance that it will give you a "more recent version" error, especially if you used a device that was updated substantially on that track.

There are hacky ways to get a more recent set and convert it to an older version but that's a longer conversation and requires you to be comfortable editing XML, etc.
