Ableton 10.1 Conflict with Roland SPD-SX
Ableton 10.1 Conflict with Roland SPD-SX
Hello everyone, I'm grateful for what Ableton brings us. Ableton Devs and owners, a real special thank you for your incredible work.
Updating lately has caused me problems. I don't know if that's only me but something is not working and I've been looking since the last update.I'm the owner of a Roland SPD SX, and it appears to not working under 10.1.
How did I Config it ? clearly as simple as it is, hardware got some options to link with usb :
Setup midi : Global Channel 10, Local control on, Soft Thru on, USB-MIDI I/F : on,
Every pad on my kit got a midi note, EXT Control and gate both off.
It worked just fine under Ableton 10.0. I could just drum and jam on my pad it would record everything straight away. Now with 10.1, pad is working still working when I press them, when I hit them live recognize it and plays the sound as it triggers, though whenever I want to record it. None of it get recorded. only a bunch of 4 notes over a 100 get recorded just like it was freezing. What evidence could I bring you so you guys can figure out what's wrong ?
I am sure this is coming from Ableton 10.1 since it was working under 10.0 and I've recently tried on 9.0 and it works like a charm.
Did anything change so I should follow on my lastest Ableton?
Thank you all in advance.

Did you check that everything's fine in Live's midi Preferences?

Yes. Between 10.1 and that 9.7.6
Ableton 10.1
Ableton 9.7.6
The only thing that could change from that 9.7.6 is the nocturn mapping, but as I've disabled it in Ableton now it still doesn't work. Though my Nocturn Keyboard wasn't dealing any problem in 9.7.6, neither 10.0.

There were some bigger Win 10 updates recently, maybe they went so smooth (for a change) that you didn't notice it?
I know that Japanese manufacturers like to use their own drivers, instead of relying on MS USB drivers, and that Win 10 updates can break those driver's installations, requiring they be re-installed.
So, did you try (re-)installing the drivers for that Roland SPD-SX?

Hello, well I've updated my windows, uninstalled the drivers, installed it again. Nothing changed. Midi still records on Ableton 9 without problems, Ableton 10.1 doesn't.
(though I precise once again, Ableton 10.1 detects it perfectly, I can play when I'm on the track itself. It just doesn't record the midi, it's blank, almost empty.)

If you're sure about your settings, then maybe that's a bug introduced at some point in L10.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem with Ableton 10.1, did the Ableton support get back to you?
Thanks

I am also having MIDI issues between Ableton 10.1 and my Roland SPD-SX. Such a bummer!!!
Re: Ableton 10.1 Conflict with Roland SPD-SX
Hey. sorry for not answering guys. I didn't receive notifications out from this.
Yeah Ableton's support did answer me for this, and as far as I know they heard about the bug. They planned to fix it but they didn't give me any date about it.
I don't know if this has been fixed in 10.1.2 since I did stay on 10.0.6 after knowing it would crash. Is it fixed now ?
Regards,

There is a fix for the ’short midi notes from drum pads not recording’ problem in the latest 10.1.2
