Is MacBookPro "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid2012 recommended for Ableton live + Max for live?

I want to buy a Apple MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid-2012. I use Ableton Live and Max for live. Is this processor enough for it (Intel Core i5-3210M 2.50GHz)?

I dont have much experience with i5 processors but I know you definitely need a quad core if you plan on using soft synths.

I bought a 2014 core i7 mac dual core. Pretty decent for just audio work but most modern softsynths brings it to its knees.

Reaktor Polyplex even gave it trouble.

I am using a iMac 27 late 2012 i5 core.
This has been working fine until 2 weeks ago when I after downloading the latest Arturia V-collection update, has had problems with performance when having more than a few V-collection instruments in my set.

I would suggest getting a bigger screen though, if that is your only working platform, as I imagine 13 inches can be crowded.

I would use it with 21,5 inch desktop monitor.

When looking at something to power modern software, a 7 year old computer is not something I would personally ever sink my money into even with the Apple name on it, especially an older i5 mobile processor.

Just set your expectation bar very, very low and expect nothing from any modern synth you load into it, maybe just audio.

I was thinking that too. Especially a 7 year old core i5. If you get a old computer, I would definitely make sure it is core i7 quad.

Find an i7 instead and you’ll be perfectly fine for Live’s stock devices and m4l.
