Tonal Balance

Post by garyd7 » Thu Jul 18, 2019 7:41 pm

Does a tonal balance meter M4L device exist similar to Izotope's (https://www.izotope.com/en/products/mas ... ntrol.html) or do you think it would be possible to make in M4L?

Cheers,
Gary

It is possible, but probably not trivial to make a exact replica.

That looks like a dynamic EQ, so maybe try sidechaining Multiband Dynamics with a reference track.

That's what is commonly called a "matching EQ" application. There are self-contained EQ plugins (like Match EQ in Logic) that can match the frequency spectrum balance of a reference recording, the Izotope plugin is a bit different since it controls another EQ plugin. I've also used a standalone app called HarBal that does this.

My guess about whether or not it could be done in M4L: maybe, but extremely difficult. It requires spectral analysis of two audio files and then calculating the needed EQ curves. This is not a trivial process.
