1) I make music, because... well I dunno I enjoy it, I dont make enough tho, and its never finished its usually loops to use in a DJ set, which turns out to be an hour live set of my own stuff. Maybe oneday I will finish a track.
2) Electro / techno, Richie Hawtin meets Aux88/DynamixII with some funkyness thrown in somewhere.
3) since I was 16, I am now 23, I started doing some mess arond industrial stuff with my friend, but honestly I was writing songs when I was 12/13, on my casio home keybaord just using a demo, but changing the chord sequences, to sort the vocals.

I have a hard time living without "creating". Music, poetry... whatever. Compensating maybe for some lack of... normal strength.

No label, "experimental" sounds lame. Don't know.

Because ... I enjoy creating a small moment in time others may relate to ... and chicks dig musicians .... no doubt there.

behind the scenes, no. its not heavy, I retro fit it with a sliced up constrution helmet, so its actually not bad, and not hot. I also have a two-way mirror in the monitor part, so I can see out, but no one can see in...
just trying to spice it up a bit... also, my name is Caputo, so Computo, and then the rest "fell into place" so to speak...

I make music because I like music, and because it's a form of artistic expression for me. Other people paint, write, sculpt, draw, I press buttons, turn knobs, and formulate chord and note progressions that represent my feelings at that moment.
My style is all over the place, and I'd hesitate to pigeonhole it into a specific genre. There are elements of house, electro, 80's, trance, breaks, industrial, rock, pop, and a lot of other stuff. The stuff I'm trying to write for clubs and dance parties is harder, more techier. I'd say it's electrotechnohousebreaks or something. Hahahaha.

This thread is my request (and your chance) to express why you do it, and if your music defies categorization, give us some heading on where it's coming from and also where it's going.

2) Mostly melodic trance and tech trance, but also some breaks and pop related things.
3) Started out with a tracker in 1994 and been hooked on producing electronic music ever since, even though thats not what I'm listening to myself. Dont know why that is.

One of earliest (in fact this might be the earliest... whoa...) memories is trying out the different setting on my grandmothers Electric organ.
I need more theory.
My dad has been working on industrial scale installation projects (electrical/mechanical-not Joseph Bueys) my whole life. I was always running around making shit out of scrap metal. Sometimes I made music. Sometimes I maded art.
When I was twelve I discovered Einsturnzende Neubauten, via my exposure to the industrial genre at an early age. I remember being drunk at my sister's party, trying to pronounce their name, and drawing their symbol on napkins. I was fortunate to grow up in NYC for exposure, but the economic disadvantage most residence are in does not make it worthwhile.
Cheap casio 8, classical guitar 15, electric 18, strat 20, my first digital delay processor (lexicon prime time...mmm...) 21, busted up drum kit 22, shitload of delay-boxes/ tablas 23-24, Apple G5 dual 2g powermac/LiveDelta/Live4/LogicPro7/microkontrol/mic's galore/etc 26. Now I'm twenty seven and I saving my money for a macintel lappy and a Lemur.
I still am pretty awful at theory, but after all of the trials to express myself before Live, the day I stumbled on it was like learning I had fucking wings the whole time!
Anyone want to buy a whole bunch of delay processors?
My music has been very electro, upbeat, and poppy recently. The right girl will do that.
