Drums MIDI mapping issue
Hey,
I just installed Addictive Drums 2 and I wanted to write some MIDI for my drums.
I created a new MIDI track and added Addictive Drums to the track. But unlike Ableton's drums, the MIDI mapper (or whatever it's name is) is not loaded, and I see a normal keyboard, even though some of the keys work.
Here is the editor I have:

I would expect something like:

Re: Drums MIDI mapping issue
download this .adg file and drop it before your vst. it will change the midi editor to show general midi drum map names on each note. as long as the vst follows gm drum specs they should match up fairly well. this GM Drum MAp file used to be included in old versions of Live but was removed from the core library a few years back.

Thanks for your quick answer.garyboozy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 2:56 pmdownload this .adg file and drop it before your vst. it will change the midi editor to show general midi drum map names on each note. as long as the vst follows gm drum specs they should match up fairly well. this GM Drum MAp file used to be included in old versions of Live but was removed from the core library a few years back.
The drum map you've provided doesn't seem to fit Addictive Drums, as it correctly put names on keys but not the good ones. I'm kinda surprised Addictive Drums doesn't follow a general standard of MIDI mapping...

Edit it to match and save it.

Re: Drums MIDI mapping issue
Well, there is a preset in the AD2 interface where you can select the GM map. Then your file perfectly fill the names.
For the further readers:
* On the AD2 interface, click on the "?" at the top-right corner and then "Map Window".
* On the left click on "Map preset"
* Select GM
* Save and set as default
* Import the .adg file before AD2
-> Problem solved!
Thank you guys

Will the GM map constrain performance? Some drum instruments group sound variations for easier performance. I don’t know AD2.

Re: Drums MIDI mapping issue
The proper Addictive Drums 2 drum mapping provides much more programming subtlety than the GM drum map provides.
For example the GM map provides two snare options:
1. acoustic snare
2. electronic snare
The Addictive Drums 2 map provides for:
1. Snare Rimshot
2. Snare Open Hit
3. Snare Rimshot (dbl)
4. Snare Open Hit (dbl)
5. Snare Shallow Rimshot
6. Snare Sidestick
7. Snare Shallow Hit
8. Snare Rimclick
And that is not counting the eight variations that exist for brushes. Likewise multiple variants exist for the remaining kit items that are not available in GM mode.
Attached below is a link to my drum map for Addictive Drums 2. Place it before Addictive Drums instrument to enjoy fuller use of AD2. It is complete for use with sticks and lists some brush options. Many brush options overlay the sticks map, those are not listed on this map.
A separate map would certainly be useful for using brushes. I haven't put that together yet. When I do I'll make it available.

Here's an Ableton Live drum map for using Addictive Drums 2 with brushes.

Re: Drums MIDI mapping issue
Hey Maurice, do you still have the Drum Map with brushes? Seems that the file is no longer available in Google Drive.
Thanks!
Thanks!
