Hearing notes when drawing on midi tracks

I don't know how to hear the notes when you either draw or move them on the piano roll. Is there a setting to turn on this function?

..its the lil circle button with a headphone symbol just above the b/w keys of the piano roll

contol the volume w/ the knob just left of the main master vol fader
