Catalina will break Live 9
Re: Catalina will break Live 9
What was really annoying was when the Abes dropped Live 9 (@9.2 IIRC) support for Snow Leopard, which was officially supported when I bought Live 9.

The reality is there is no grass is greener since everyone is a victim to the (d)evolving OS.
Re: Catalina will break Live 9
That's right, but still as consumers we have the choice to slow down the frenzy.

The really "weird" thing is that you can run just about any flavor of any other OS on just about any Intel/Mac hardware. I wonder what's going to happen when Apple switches CPUs from Intel as is rumored?
Re: Catalina will break Live 9
Looking deeply into my crystal ball I predict that 98% of people out there will deal with any hiccups like they always do because the benefits of using MacOS outweigh the occasional teething issues for the majority of people who are already invested in that platform.

This happens almost every year though after a new OS.
I tend to wait about 6 months or so after a new OS until all of the bugs get sorted out. For a new computer buyer though, I can feel their pain though.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. I have been waiting for a decent offer from Ableton to upgrade, but the current 25% doesn't seem very attractive. It's not fair! I have paid lots of money to Ableton over the years to buy this software and then upgrade it more than once and now I have to choose between keeping my OS up to date or being able to keep using software that I have paid for several times.
I'm thinking that I could wait until Live 11 comes out and then get a cheaper upgrade to Live 10. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to upgrade to a not-latest version, and whether this is likely to be cheaper option than the current price?

when Live 10 was released there was a 20% pre-order discount if I recall correctly.Davo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 3:59 amI'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. There are currently around 4 or 5 years between major releases of Ableton Live.
Live 8 : 2 April 2009
Live 9 : 5 March 2013
Live 10 : 6 February 2018
Therefore you may be able to get a 20% discount on Live 11 in early 2022, or 2023
or you could get the 25% discount now.
