former crack user, now owner
I'm on a powerbook g4 running osx 10.4 I have used cracked copies of ableton 4 and 5 until I BOUGHT my copy of live (simply because they deserve every penny of it)
my question is, do I need to delete any files that my be floating around on this computer that may conflict with the legit copy of live? because throughout the time I've used the cracked copys there is that notorious "copy protection violation" that comes around. I'm just hoping that my payed for copy doesn't end up thinking it's the not payed for copy... if that makes sense..
also... will I have any problems running songs from the cracked versions?

Format your hard disk, sale your powerbook give your legit copy to a friend and buy a bike, fresh air can be exellent for your kind of problems.

operator too
also paid for operator tonight too actually.
and to partially answer my own question as well as confirm what the dude above said, most of my old songs seem to be working fine. aside for a few here and there that crash upon opening but I expected at least some bugs from the other versions I used.

is it difficult to understand that all i was really asking was if I had to uninstall(or reformat) the other versions of live that were cracked to keep them from conflicting? thats what I was asking. I'm not trying to get information on how their copy protection works, just info on how to keep it from affecting an actual licensed user. seriously you may think what I said was silly but you went about telling me in the most abrassive of ways. I certainly hope you aren't a moderator.
and actually I'm done talking to you, find a new topic. my first post in this place and already someone is giving me a hard time.

come on, you come on the official website of a company saying that you've been using cracked versions of their software and you expect ppl to be kind to you?
first, try to get some info from some other forum (that's what i'd expect from a "polite" person).
second, you could have searched the forum, there are a couple of posts regarding your issue.
and third, i would have backed up all my stuff, then just tried to install the legit version, and see what happens. and that's what you did, so why not THINK before POST?
now if you have some genuine questions regarding how Live works, feel free to come back here...

it seemed easier to post in the forum than to email them and wait for a reply. companies usually take longer than forums.
and I'm sorry you feel hostile toward someone who was using cracked copies but I am NOW A PAID CUSTOMER. so maybe not all respect due but certainly more respect due than someone who never decided to pay at all.
I'll try to remember that this forum is only for "elite" users only.
