Make Search Results NOT include Samples

Post by aporia » Tue Jan 28, 2020 4:07 pm

Hi there!

from the docs: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/manag ... -and-sets/
All results — this section appears after you’ve typed something into the search field. It shows search results for every section of the browser in a single list.
I'm wondering if it's possible to ALTER this behavior, so that when I search through my library sample files ARE NOT returned. Ideally, I'd like the search to JUST browse through devices, plugins, and presets, but *not* WAVs, AIFFs, ALS files, etc....

For example, if I want an instance of Zebra, I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find it:

Not an ideal workflow, since I really only ever use search for finding devices.

I thought that perhaps by 'unchecking' certain options from the 'categories' list might ignore them in search, but that does not appear to work.

Is this possible? Any hacky-workarounds? Thanks!

Try adding "vst" (or "au", or "plugin") keyword to constrain searches.

Like "zebra vst".

Or "vst zebra", or "vs zeb", or "zeb vs".

Even as short as "z v" may be enough to constrain the search results.

In general, adding a second keyword with the type ("vst", "plugin", "rack", "max", "set", etc. ) works quite well to constrain searches.
